The official national sport of India is field hockey, administered by Hockey India. Traditional sports in India include kabaddi, kho kho, and gilli-danda.

Field hockey is an India's official national sport, and it is administered by Hockey India. The Indian field hockey team won the 1975 Hockey World Cup and eight gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the Olympic games.

Cricket

Also cricket is one of the most popular sport in India. Cricket in India is administered by BCCI  - the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The India national cricket team won the 1983 Cricket World Cup and the 2007 ICC World Twenty20. The India national cricket team shared also the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy with Sri Lanka. India has also won the Asia Cup a record five times.
